Measuring Large Circumferences More PreciselyOptoelectromechanical gauge measures circumference of large object with resolution of 10 to the negative 4th power inches. Measuring wheel held by spring against cylindrical surface to be measured. Laser reader detects code marks on side of wheel. Marks indicate distance traveled around circumference. Measures inside or outside circumference. Also measures distance between two marks on edge of plate or along beam or track.
