Wind tunnel magnetic Suspension Systems at the University of Southampton, EnglandThe magnetic suspension system at Southampton University was used in two roles: as a device for producing useful aerodynamic data, and as a vehicle to develop and demonstrate new technology for application to a projected larger facility. Examples of both follow, beginning with an outline of the quest to develop methods for reaching high angles of attack because of current interest in researching the associated aerodynamics.
