Cloud parameters from IR lidar and other instruments - CLARET design and preliminary resultsThe paper describes the objectives and experimental design of the Cloud Lidar and Radar Exploratory Test (CLARET) project. Early results for some of the objectives are presented. Particular attention is given to polarization of IR lidar backscatter, cirrus size distribution, and cirrus emissivity. CLARET has produced a good data set for cloud/radiation research and evaluation of remote sensing methods and technologies.
