Vorticity dynamics of inviscid shear layersThe inviscid evolution of a two-dimensional shear layer is simulated numerically by a scheme based on a kinematic decomposition of the unsteady flow. Lagrangian and Weber transformations of the incompressible Euler equations result in a Clebsch representation that separates the flowfield into rotational and irrotational components. These transformations produce the initial construction of the flowfield and define its subsequent evolution.
