Advancements in rainfall measurement and analysis technology for validating remote sensing observations of precipitation from space and aircraftThe use of remote sensing by the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission to determine the reflectivity-rain rate relation for a tropical squall line event is discussed. The implications of the findings for convective-stratiform budget studies are briefly addressed.
