Does faint galaxy clustering contradict gravitational instability? It has been argued, based on the weakness of clustering of faint galaxies, that these objects cannot be the precursors of present galaxies in a simple Einstein-de Sitter model universe with clustering driven by gravitational instability. It is shown that the assumptions made about the growth of clustering were too restrictive. In such a universe, the growth of clustering can easily be fast enough to match the data.
