Measuring Arc-Jet Velocity With Laser-Induced FluorescenceLaser-induced fluorescence in copper atoms entrained in arc jet provides spectrum from which temperature computed. Velocity of flow calculated from shift in spectrum between different angles of incidence. Two major advantages of this method of measurement: relatively nonintrusive; and laser beam focused to micro-sized region to yield high spatial resolution.
