Ceramic matrix composite applications in advanced liquid fuel rocket engine turbomachineryFiber-reinforced ceramic matrix composites have been identified with properties suitable for near term applications. Conceptual design studies indicate the feasibility of applying C/SiC, and subelements were manufactured that verify selected fabrication features and key material properties. Tests and inspection of these subelements confirmed their capabilities.
