Performances of the Imaging Proportional Counter of the Stellar X-ray PolarimeterThe Stellar X-ray Polarimeter (SXRP) will be mounted on the focal plane of one of the two SODART telescopes aboard the Russian mission Spectrum-X-gamma. The SXRP employs the same Imaging Proportional Counters for both the Bragg and the scattering stages. An account is presently given of the main characteristics of these detectors and their performance, on the basis of tests at the technical-model and engineering model levels of development.
