The Multi-Spectral Solar Telescope Array - Initial results and future plansWe review the scientific objectives, configuration, and initial flight results of the Multi-Spectral Solar Telescope Array (MSSTA). The MSSTA is a comprehensive solar rocket-borne observatory which utilizes multilayer coated optics to achieve high resolution thermally resolved images of the sun at FUV, EUV and soft X-ray wavelengths. The MSSTA was successfully flown on May 13, 1991, obtaining high resolution images of chromospheric and coronal structures, including loops, filaments, polar plumes, and coronal holes. We also discuss plans to expand the capabilities of the MSSTA for future flights.
