How does new evidence change our estimates of probabilities? Carnap's formula revisitedThe formula originally proposed by R. Carnap in his analysis of induction is reviewed and its natural generalization is presented. A situation is considered where the probability of a certain event is determined without using standard statistical methods due to the lack of observation.
