The grandest tour - VoyagerThe Voyager mission based on two spacecraft, Voyager 1 and Voyager 2, launched on September 5, 1977 and August 20 1977, respectively, is reviewed. The mission was designed to take advantage of a rare geometric arrangement of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune that occurs only once every 176 years. Particular attention is given to data on Jupiter's ring and moons, the discovery of active volcanoes on Io, Jovian magnetism, Saturn's atmosphere, Titan and other moons, Uranus and Miranda, Uranian moons and rings, Triton's atmosphere.
