Debris mapping sensor technology project summary: Technology flight experiments program area of the space platforms technology program

Programmatic objectives are: (1) to improve characterization of the orbital debris environment; and (2) to provide a passive sensor test bed for debris collision detection systems. Technical objectives are: (1) to study LEO debris altitude, size and temperature distribution down to 1 mm particles; (2) to quantify ground based radar and optical data ambiguities; and (3) to optimize debris detection strategies.
