Direct numerical simulations of leading-edge receptivity for freestream soundThe objective of this paper is to review our efforts in spatial direct numerical simulations for modeling leading-edge receptivity to freestream sound and vorticity. These results begin to provide the link between the freestream and the initial boundary-layer response and can provide the upstream conditions for further simulations marching through the transition process toward turbulence.
