Enhancing Images By Nonlinear Extrapolation In FrequencyImproved method of enchancing edges in image involves nonlinear filter operation creating image-intensity components having spatial frequencies higher than those present in input image and locked in phase to lower-frequency input components. In comparison with other edge-enhancement methods involving mostly strengthening of higher-frequency components already present in input, this method computationally simpler and yields better results. Better suited to real-time applications like high-definition television and compression of image data.
