In original intended application, apparatus mounted directly on primary reflector of large radio antenna. Sensors and actuator in elevation-angle encoder include motor, shaft-angle encoder, and pendulous accelerometer mounted on shaft. Designed to give zero output when designated reference axis perpendicular to gravity.
