Correlated variations in the azimuthal and elevation angles of the interplanetary magnetic fieldAnalysis of data collected during the in-ecliptic phase of the Ulysses mission shows that there are periods during which deviations from the Parker spiral direction in the azimuthal and elevation angles of the interplanetary magnetic field are correlated. There are a number of solar wind structures which might be expected to introduce such a correlation into the data, e.g., CMEs, Stream-stream interfaces or helicity carried by the solar wind. These potential sources fall into two categories: Those produced at or close to the solar wind source region and those produced by extended interactions as the solar wind expands. We will distinguish the contributions of these two source categories and assess the impact on the evolution on the interplanetary magnetic field.
