The on-orbit optical performance of STISThe Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph (STIS) is a versatile, general purpose instrument installed aboard the Hubble Space Telescope in February, 1997. During the following Servicing Mission Orbital Verification (SMOV) period, STIS has been made operational and aligned, and initial checkout and calibration completed. The overall optical performance goals have largely been achieved and a summary of these results is presented.
