A Combined Infrared and Microwave Technique for Studying the Diurnal Variation of Rainfall Over AmazoniaIn this paper we present results from the application of a satellite infrared (IR) technique for estimating rainfall over northern South America. Our main objectives are to examine the diurnal variability of rainfall and to investigate the relative contributions from the convective and stratiform components.
