History of Bacterial Biofilms and Their Significance in the Search for Extraterrestrial LifeBacterial biofilms are almost ubiquitous in terrestrial environments, many similar to past or present Martian environments. Together with ToF-SIMS analysis of the in situ organics, fossil biofilms constitute reliable biomarkers.
