On The Genesis of Tropical Cyclones: Role of Mesoscale InteractionsBefore the last decades of the 20th century, observations were rarely adequate to assess the role of mesoscale circulations in the formation of tropical cyclones. Recent developments in remote-sensing technology have allowed routine collection of measurements that reveal the small- and mesoscale structure of forming tropical cyclones. Additional information is contained in the original extended abstract.
