Toward a Unified Parameterization of the Boundary Layer and Moist ConvectionThe dissipation parameterizations developed for higher-order closure are used to parameterize lateral entrainment and detrainment in a mass-flux model. In addition, a subplume-scale turbulence scheme is included to represent fluxes not captured in the conventional mass-flux framework. These new parameterizations are tested by simulating trade wind cumulus from the Barbados Oceanographic and Meteorological Experiment (BOMEX).
