Magnetite in Desert Varnish and Applications to Rock Varnish on MarsMagnetite in desert varnish is characterized here using DTA, IR and SEM. The presence of magnetite in desert varnish is significant because of the oxidizing environment. This situation is similar to that of Mars where magnetite may also be present.
