Wavelength Control in Buried Heterostructure and Ridge Waveguide LasersHigh density wavelength division multiplexed (HD-WDM) systems place stringent requirements on the absolute wavelength and wavelength spacing of the elements in Distributed Feedback (DFB) laser arrays. An analysis of the fabrication tolerances for ridge waveguide and buried heterostructure DFB lasers is performed, showing the fabrication-induced wavelength variations present in these types of devices.
