X-Band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SIR-C/X-SAR) and shuttle Hand-Held PhotographsThe Spaceborne Imaging Radar-C, X-Band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SIR-C/X-SAR) was launched on space shuttle Endeavour at 7:05 AM EDT, Saturday, April 9, 1994 as part of the Space Radar Lab (SRL-1). Soon after launch, the radars were activated and began arount the clock operations which lasted for the next 10 days.
