SUBMM wave superconduction hot-electron direct detectorsRecently, we have presented a concept for a hot-electron direct detector (HEDD) capable of counting single millimeter-wave photons. Such a detector meets the needs of future space far-infrared applications and can be used for background-limited detector arrays on missions like SPIRIT, 10-m filled aperture telescope, SAFIR, and SPECS.
