Effect of ground proximity on the longitudinal aerodynamic characteristics of an aspect-ratio-1 wing with and without wing-tip blowingAn investigation has been conducted to determine the effect of ground proximity on the aerodynamic characteristics of an aspect-ratio-1 wing with and without wing-tip blowing. This investigation was conducted in the Langley towing tank no. 1 with the model towed over the water to eliminate the effects of walls and of wind-tunnel ground-board boundary layers. The results indicate that the model is stable with height and pitch at positive angles of attack and that the lift-drag ratio is improved at small ground heights with some blowing at the wing tips.
