Greenhouse design for a Martian colony: Structural, solar collection and light distribution systemsThe inflatable structure serves as an ideal greenhouse while being feasible to transport and easy to assemble on Mars. Locating the structure underground protects it from the extreme environmental variations on the surface. The proposed lighting system provides all the necessary light for photosynthesis with little external power demand. These considerations make the proposed greenhouse design a viable means of providing an ongoing food supply for a Martian colony.
