Project Management of the Capsule Parachute Assembly System (CPAS)Since the time of contract award of the Orion Crew Exploration Vehicle in 2006, NASA has spearheaded the design, development, test and evaluation of the Orion aerodynamic decelerator system through a Government Furnished Equipment project in the Engineering Directorate of the Johnson Space Center. This paper will describe the Project structure and organization, the interfaces to the major stakeholders, the processes applied, and a few major budget, schedule and technical challenges overcome.
