KNOCK REACTIONReaction in a rapid compression apparatus was followed by pressure recording, by photography, and by sampling and chemical analysis. It was possible to investigate the highly sensitive hydrogen-oxygen reaction with this equipment. Results obtained with this reaction make it highly improbable that any hot-point effects are present, Detailed results are presented for single or two-stage ignition of hydrocarbons with air.
