Improved magnetometer uses toroidal gating coilImproved magnetometer employs a cylindrical, high permeability magnetic core with a toroidal gating coil and a solenoid pickup coil. Flux interaction can be reduced by electrostatically shielding the pickup coil from the gating coil. The magnetometer principle can be applied to navigation devices.
