Suppressor plate eliminates undesired arcing during electron beam weldingSuppressor grid eliminates undesired arcing during electron beam welding in one of two ways. A grid at ground potential collects secondary emission of ions and electrons produced by the beam as it strikes the workpiece, or a negatively energized grid repels the plasma arc back to the workpiece. This eliminates ground screens used to cover view ports.
