Zirconium alloys with small amounts of iron and copper or nickel show improved corrosion resistance in superheated steamHeat treating various compositions of zirconium alloys improve their corrosion resistance to superheated steam at temperatures higher than 500 degrees C. This increases their potential as fuel cladding for superheated-steam nuclear-fueled reactors as well as in autoclaves operating at modest pressures.
