Assessment of Lifting Body Vehicle Handling QualitiesHandling qualities have always been vitally important to the pilot. Before the current series of lifting body flight tests, there was speculation and concern about how this class of wingless vehicle would handle. The general behavior of the three lifting bodies in flight is described in broad terms in this paper, and some specific examples of behavior that may be of special interest from the pilot's viewpoint are presented. In addition, comments are offered concerning simulation requirements.
