Effects of Energy Dissipation in the Bearing Assemblies of Dual-Spin SpacecraftProper evaluation of the effects of bearing assembly flexibility on the attitude stability of dual-spin spacecraft may explain the observed anomalies in the motion of a recently launched satellite. A convenient, but approximate, expression with which to gauge these effects is presented, as in an example of a possible application of this expression in a design role.
