Modular space station program optionThe study to determine whether a viable space station experiment program of 5 to 10 years duration could be defined that would reduce the projected program cost of $6 billion is presented. The options considered are limited to a six-man capability. The identification and description of the options, impact assessment of these options on the space station design, and the costs and schedules for encompassing each option are summarized. It is concluded that viable space station programs of 5 to 10 years duration are attainable; however, the 10-year program offers a significantly greater return on the investment.
