Engineering aspects of the Uvicon/Celescope system.Summary of experience with the Uvicon/Celescope system, a space-borne astronomical observatory, which has successfully obtained more than 8000 frames of television pictures in the stellar ultraviolet. Important requirements for a better system are simple operation, immunity to change in the external magnetic field, predictable temperature characteristics, longevity, a fatigue-resistant cathode, and deterioration monitoring.
