Generalized multi-dimensional sampling theory and applications in optical systems.Summary of the generalized sampling theory developed by Peterson (1963) and others, which treated multidimensional impulse-modulation periodic sampling, applicable to any multidimensional process. Particular attention is given to the two-dimensional case (N = 2) for which applications in optical systems are proposed. The efficiency of sampling geometries, and digital holography and sampling theory are considered.
