Polarization tracking system for satellites. The basic problem is to develop a 4 GHz polarization follower which tracks a linear vector transmitted by the satellite, with high precision. Applications include spacecraft attitude control, polarization following for linearly polarized communication receiving antennas, and Faraday rotation measurements. Considered primary information, an angular precision of better than 0.5 deg has been demonstrated at 4 GHz. Both theoretical and experimental aspects are discussed.
