Topographic mapping of the Apollo 16 landing siteThe techniques are described for obtaining high resolution photographs from the Apollo 14 lunar orbiter for topographic mapping of the Descartes landing site for use in planning Apollo 16. The Apollo 16 spacecraft landed approximately 250 m from the selected target point, and few topographic surprises were encountered.
