Summary of scientific resultsPreliminary results of the Apollo 16 lunar experiments are reported. The composition of geological samples from the landing site are discussed including the Cayley Formation and the Descartes highlands. The geological data substantiates the belief that lunar terra is underlain by plagioclase or anorthositic rocks. Other results are discussed for the following experiments: soil mechanics, passive and active seismic, lunar surface and portable magnetometer, far camera/spectrograph, solar wind composition, cosmic ray, and spectrometer.
