Photometric systemsStroemgren's classification of photometric systems is used to survey wideband, medium, and narrow-band systems for studying variable stars. Multicolor photometry of variable stars is used to obtain curves of brightness change and to study the physical properties of the variables as they change during alteration of brightness.
