Variation of cloud emissivity in the infrared.The spectral radiative properties of solid and liquid H2O particles in the thermal infrared are examined. The study of these properties is aimed at an explanation of the spectral features associated with certain clouds pointed out by Hanel et al. (1972) in an analysis of the results of the Nimbus 4 infrared spectroscopy experiment.
