Liquid lubricants - functions and requirementsThe state of liquid lubricant technology is discussed. The limit of present knowledge, especially in the boundary regime, is analyzed. Factors such as colloid behavior, viscoelastic effects, and relaxation times are investigated. Specific applications problems and some lubricant requirements which have not been met are reported.
