Causes and control of solar electric propulsion interactive effectsContaminant effects and questions of thrust system operation status are discussed together with the sources of contaminant effects and the areas of contaminant impact. Contaminant reduction techniques are considered, giving attention to magnetic contamination, dc electric contamination, ac electric contamination, conducted EM interference, radio frequency interference, and material transport and deposition. Design goals for the reduction of contaminant levels are examined along with some areas of uncertainty.
