Low density polybenzimidazole foamsA description is presented of the relationship between prepolymer purity, processing parameters, and additives. The studies included the investigation of the effects of an addition of surfactants and fibers. Changes in foam characteristics due to variations in the cure and postcure schedules were also explored. A direct relationship was established between the amount of fiber additive and the resulting foam density.
