Development of a reusable flightweight cryogenic storage systemA goldized-Kapton Superfloc multilayer insulation (MLI) coupled with an MLI purge and repressurization subsystem has been developed for use on reusable space vehicles. The subsystems were installed on an 87-inch diameter oblate spheroid liquid hydrogen tank and subjected to repeated space shuttle flight simulations to determine the effect upon system performance.
