Gravitational radiation from stellar collapseThe collapse of a uniformly rotating dust cloud of uniform density is considered. The collapsing 'star' maintains spatially uniform density and angular velocity together with spheroidal shape. The analogous case of a nonrotating spheroid which starts at rest at infinity with infinitesimal eccentricity is also examined. Factors which appear to be important in the efficient production of the gravitational radiation are discussed.
