Reflective Schmidt correctorA technique based on the use of an off-axis corrector in two orthogonal planes is presented for optimizing the reflective corrector that is to replace the refractive corrector plate of a Schmidt camera in high resolution space astronomy applications. The technique can easily be applied to any off-axis angle depending on configuration, field of view, and focal ratio of the instrument. It is pointed out, however, that the general performance degrades and the field of view shrinks with increasing off-axis angles.
