ASTP multipurpose furnace experimentsThe Apollo-Suyuz Test Project (ASTP), to be conducted jointly in 1975 by the United States and the Soviet Union, will carry a multipurpose electric furnace rather similar to that carried on the Skylab. This furnace facility will be used to process samples for seven experiments to investigate how crystals grow and molten materials solidify under near-zero-gravity conditions. An outline of the program is given.
